Medical Histories play an important role for the dentist(s) to provide the best care for their patients. Knowing of pre existing conditions, medications, allergies and previous operations can help our dentists identify potential problems in your oral  health.

Certain medications can effect your oral health therefore it is important for the dentist to know of all medications. Some side effects of medications can be increased rates of decay, dry mouth, gum problems and oral thrush.

If you have had a recent surgery, it is important to notify the dentist leading up to your appointment in case you may need to take antibiotics. Dental procedures can cause breaks in the gums and allow bacteria in the mouth to enter the bloodstream and eventually to the surgical area in the body such as heart operations and joint replacements.

It is helpful for the dentist to know your dental habits such as diet, brushing and flossing and lifestyle habits. These factors can help determine diagnosis for some dental problems.
